AI Council – Privacy Policy

AI Council ("the app", "we", "us") is a personal productivity and AI assistant app built by an independent developer. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
2. What we collect
When you use the app, we may collect the following information:
Account information
- Email address
- Display name or first name
- Authentication identifiers created by Firebase Authentication
Usage information
- Councils, members, and messages you create in the app
- Basic usage events (e.g., when you create a council, send a message, or change settings)
- Subscription status and related metadata (e.g., active/inactive, product ID, renewal date)
Device and technical information
- Basic device info (device model, OS version, app version)
- Anonymous identifiers from Firebase services needed for security and reliability (e.g., Firebase App Check)
Purchase information
- Limited purchase metadata from Google Play Billing (e.g., product ID, purchase token, purchase state)
- We do NOT receive or store full payment card details; payments are processed by Google Play.
3. How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and manage your account
- Authenticate you and keep your session secure
- Sync and store your councils, conversations, and preferences
- Enforce usage limits and manage free vs. premium access
- Process and validate subscription purchases via Google Play
- Protect the app and backend from abuse and fraud (e.g., via Firebase App Check)
- Improve reliability, performance, and user experience
- Communicate important service updates, such as changes to this policy
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Legal basis
Where required by applicable law, we process your data on the following legal bases:
- To perform the contract between you and us (providing the app and its core features)
- Our legitimate interests (improving the app, preventing fraud and abuse, securing the service)
- Compliance with legal obligations (for example, responding to lawful requests)
5. How your data is stored and shared
Storage
User data (account, subscription, usage) is stored in Google Firebase services (e.g., Firestore, Authentication, Storage) in data centers selected by Firebase (typically in the region configured for your project).
Sharing
We may share your information with:
- Service providers we use to operate the app (e.g., Google Firebase, Google Play)
- Authorities or third parties where we are required to do so by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public
We do not share your data with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes.
6. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to operate the app. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, unless we need to retain certain information for legal, accounting, or security reasons.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data we hold.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data, subject to legal or contractual obligations.

- Using reputable infrastructure providers (Google Firebase, Google Play)
- Enforcing authentication and access controls
- Using Firebase App Check and other safeguards to reduce abuse
However, no online service can be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International transfers
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside of your country of residence. By using the app, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your own.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. In case of material changes, we may also notify you in the app or by other appropriate means.
